BREAKING: UGANDAN PRESIDENT BANS SPORT BETTING IN HIS COUNTRY

The President of Uganda, Yoweri Kuganta Museveni who has been in office since 1986 has stopped licensing new sports betting companies in Uganda and the renewal of already registered licensed companies. This was made known to the world by the Minister of Finance. Matia Kasaija. The minister made a speech on Sunday, giving the reason and why the President made this decision. He said;

“We have received a directive from President Museveni to stop licensing sports betting, gaming and gambling companies. The President has now directed the board which has been regulating them….

“From now onwards, no new companies are going to be licensed. Those which are already registered, no renewal of licenses when they expire,”

The Ministry of Finance's spokesman Jim Mugunga said that he was not aware of the order but cannot doubt it since the communication was made by a minister.
“I don’t know but since it was said by a minister, quote him. That’s good news,” he said.
